Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge: Model F5914900
![]() |
The Hoover SteamVac towers over the opposition with its bulky look, but what about performance wise? Read our guide to find out.
It features a powerful 12 amp motor, combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed.
With a simple pull of the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water.
It also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle.
Then, just to make sure, when cleaning is complete, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain.
It has two separate water tanks to keep clean water away from dirty water, and it also mixes water with cleaning solution automatically.
Users are all happy to report that the Hoover SteamVac is an excellent vacuum cleaner which, when assembled correctly, is more than adequate for cleaning all sorts of carpets.
Build Quality
While some users have reported problems with the build quality of the vacuum saying that it leaks and is not very well built, other users have started saying that this is due to skipping a set-up step. Since more and more reports have mentioned this, it seems that the set-up process must be completed before using the vacuum, to avoid leaks, and this is not a flaw of the vacuum.
Weight
The weight can be considered a problem, as most users say that it is quite heavy, especially due to the two water tanks which are quite large.
Noise and Cleaning Power
The noise the vacuum makes is bearable, as most users have reported, not being as loud as they were expecting. The cleaning power of this vacuum is excellent, and users are very impressed with how easily it cleans their carpets. While there is no steam produced, as the name might imply, and you have to use hot tap water for best results, users are still more than pleased with the results. One water tank contains water for cleaning, while the other collects the dirty water, but users have discovered that the second tank fills up rather quickly, and would have liked to see a larger one.
Conclusion
The Hoover SteamVacc is an excellent vacuum which handles superbly and is built very well. Although it uses regular tap water, mixed with cleaning substances, users still recommend it to others, saying that the difference is minor between this, and a regular steam mop.
