I would give this a 5 stars, but it is NOT a steamer. It does have some small issues, but with effort and common sense it is an excellent tool.
I have had my carpet for 7 years and only steam cleaned it once. We eat and drink in our living room daily, and often wear our shoes in. That being said, it was fairly abused when I started the process. We spent $80 on our machine and I am very pleased with the way it looks and the lightness of it. I believe it is lighter than our vacuum. It is very simple to use and requires a literally a splash of the included Fiber Cleansing Cleaner. I cleaned my entire living room carpet with 1/3 of the cleaner.
The things I learned while using the Quicksteamer. First, use very hot water. Second, I personally got as much of the water out onto the carpet while it was hot. That way it would soak for a minute. Third, I then used it without the trigger to suck up the water. I did this slowly, watching the water and dirt going in. Keep doing this until you can't see the water being sucked in anymore. Then you know you have sucked up all the dirty cleaner that will leave your carpet looking dingy and takes forever to dry. Fourth, when you remove the dirty water tank, keep it level. If you tip it, you will dump the dirty water all over yourself and your floor. I used the bathtub and dumped it out, rinsing it with hot water. The tank is small and you will have to repeat this process 3 or 4 times per room. I left the hot water running to refill my empty clean water tank.
I found my carpet MUCH cleaner, the dirt that this thing removed was amazing! In a perfect world, I would have it cleaned professionally and use this for maintenance. After the first cleaning I can see a major difference, the stains are remarkably lighter and the floor is obviously cleaner. After the second time, I believe most of the dirt will be completely gone. In reality, I believe the third time will be the charm for the stains. But, unlike a rental I won't be taking this back to the store.
works pretty well

Works pretty well for the money invested in it. I wouldn't really call it a deep cleaner. It probably cleans at a level between deep and superficial. Sucks up water pretty well. I only use it for spot cleaning (pet accidents :( ) but I imagine cleaning a room efficiently may take a decent amount of time. I found that it was difficult to remove the odor from older urine stains even with pre-soaking and the bissel 2X pet odor solution. I have speckled berber carpet so I just poured some diluted bleach on the stain, let it soak for 2 minutes, then sucked it up with the vacuum cleaner. Removed all the smell. Probably wouldn't recommend bleach for solid colored or nice carpet...
Gotta Have!

I bought one of the first models of this item several years ago. The last time I tried to use it, the motor had quit. I nearly panicked.
I don't shampoo my own carpets, but this little gem of a quicker picker upper is an absolute necessity. If you have a pet or children, you need one of these. It's small and lightweight. There's no crouching down on the floor with one of those little things designed for quick accidents.
You can vacuum up a spill quickly on carpeting or hard surface floors. Sometimes I get lazy and don't bother filling it with a shampoo mixture. I scrape up the "solids" and spray the spot with a liquid spray-type carpet cleaner. Then I vacuum it up. I keep a spray bottle of water handy for rinsing. Voila! Accidents aren't fun, but this is truly the quickest and easiest way out with great results. I wouldn't be without mine and my pets are happy.
Yuck!

Pros :
It does work!
We use it primarily to clean pet accidents as our cat throws up atleast once a week. But you do need to go back and forth to really get the stains out. But no complains here.
Cons :
- It leaks water after you turn the machine off. Drops of yucky water (after vacuuming up the cat puke) on the clean floor. So more clean-up work for me.
- Poor engineering!
You cannot really clean the water tank. Though it is easy to remove and empty the water (through a very small gap), there are just too many grooves. The dirt and cat puke gets stuck in all the compartments and just not possible to clean. I've soaked the tank in bleach, tried to shake it vigorously and even tried using a skewer. All I get is dirty water all over me. YUCK!!!
- Not sure why they call this a "steamer". It doesn't steam. Just puts out water and vacuums it up with a brush.
A Best Buy

This is an excellent, lightweight carpet cleaner. Easy to manuever, did a fine job of removing dirt and stains from heavy traffic areas on our carpet, and the Amazon price is right. Would definitely recommend it.
